In 2019, our founder embarked on a global sailing adventure aboard Sunny Spells, a Bavaria 44. Midway through the voyage, the limitations of outdated marine electronics became evident. During an unexpected pause in Egypt in 2020, this challenge transformed into an opportunity: the conception of a modern, affordable marine data display.

Over the next three years, back in Tasmania, the MDD400 was born. Four prototypes were developed and later installed on Sunny Spells as the journey continued. These prototypes underwent rigorous testing across diverse conditions, including a 28-day Pacific crossing, proving their reliability and performance.

The positive experience with these prototypes sparked the idea of bringing the MDD400 to market. Engaging with the sailing community, we sought feedback and shared our vision, leading to the development of a product that truly resonates with sailors’ needs.
